Hugh has responsibility for all aspects of The Mortgage Lender’s day-to-day operations, including credit policy, new lending, customer services, arrears management, and technology. He has worked in lending for over 25 years.
Hugh was Operations Director at Mortgages plc from 2004 to July 2014, joining the company 6 months prior to it being acquired by Merrill Lynch International Bank, now Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and was part of the executive team that grew lending volumes from £300m pa to approximately £2bn pa.
During his time at Mortgages plc, Hugh led a number of business change initiatives including the development of an online mortgage application and underwriting technology solution.
Additionally Hugh led the project to outsource mortgage administration and collections to a third party, building an effective control and oversight governance regime to ensure no customer detriment.
Prior to joining Mortgages plc Hugh held a similar position at a subsidiary of Barclays Bank specialising in unsecured lending including, retail finance, car finance and personal loans. He was part of the management team that acquired his previous business and subsequently sold it to Barclays Bank.
His experience also includes contact centres, administration management and credit risk/credit scoring.
